Jack Doohan Signs With Haas as Reserve Driver

Haas have officially confirmed the signing of Jack Doohan as one of their reserve drivers for the 2026 Formula 1 season, strengthening their driver pool ahead of the sport’s sweeping new regulation era.
The Australian, son of five-time 500cc Motorcycle World Champion Mick Doohan, previously served as a reserve driver at Alpine F1 Team across the 2023 and 2024 seasons. His patience was rewarded with a seven-race stint as a full-time race driver, beginning at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and continuing through the opening six rounds of the 2025 campaign.
However, Doohan returned to a reserve role midway through 2025 after being replaced by Franco Colapinto, before officially parting ways with the Enstone-based outfit last month.
A Fresh Opportunity With Haas
Ahead of official pre-season testing in Bahrain, Haas F1 Team announced that Doohan will join Ryo Hirakawa as reserve drivers for the 2026 season.
“I’m thrilled to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team,” said Doohan. “It’s the ideal place to continue my Formula 1 career. I would like to thank the team for giving me the opportunity to grow and take on the great challenge of 2026 together. I’m eager to begin working with the team and collaborating on a successful season.”
Komatsu Praises Doohan’s Experience
Haas Team Principal Ayao Komatsu highlighted the value Doohan brings to the team, particularly given his recent experience within Formula 1 environments.
“I’m personally very excited to have Jack join us on the team given the strength of his racing résumé and of course his experience in being a reserve driver in Formula 1,” Komatsu explained.
“The dedication required to remain sharp and prepared to race while getting to know how the team works is challenging for any driver – especially one who’s still very keen to race again at this level. We’re looking forward to welcoming him and benefiting from his contributions.”
Eyes on 2026 Development
Haas, like the rest of the grid, remain fully focused on preparations for the all-new 2026 regulations. The American outfit will head to Bahrain next week for the first of two three-day pre-season tests, with running set to begin on February 11.
With Doohan now embedded in their programme, Haas add further depth and experience as they build towards what promises to be one of the most significant reset seasons in modern Formula 1 history.
