Audi Confirm Official F1 Team Name and Launch Date

Audi’s Formula 1 dream is officially taking shape — and the countdown to 2026 has entered a new phase.
The German manufacturer has confirmed that it will race as the Audi Revolut F1 Team when it joins the grid under Formula 1’s new regulations in 2026. Alongside the team name, Audi also unveiled a new logo and announced a headline-grabbing global launch event set to take place in Berlin early next year.
Audi will take over Sauber’s place on the grid, completing a transformation that has been years in the making since the brand first declared its intention to enter Formula 1 back in 2022.
A new name — and a clear statement of intent
The Audi Revolut F1 Team name reflects a growing partnership with the global fintech company, one that goes far beyond traditional sponsorship. Audi say the collaboration is built around innovation, performance and a shared ambition to connect with a younger, global fanbase.
For fans, that means more than just branding. The partnership is expected to unlock new experiences, including digital activations, exclusive race access and app-based benefits for Revolut users — a clear sign that Audi want to do things differently when they arrive in Formula 1.
Revolut Pay will also be integrated into Audi’s online platforms, while Revolut’s financial expertise will support the team behind the scenes as they operate under the sport’s strict cost cap.
Built across three countries, focused on one goal
Behind the scenes, Audi and Sauber have been steadily laying the groundwork for a competitive entry. Facilities across Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom have been upgraded, with the aim of ensuring the team is ready to fight from the opening race of the 2026 season in Australia.
Stability remains a key theme. Jonathan Wheatley continues as Team Principal, while Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto are set to spearhead Audi’s first Formula 1 driver line-up. Overseeing the wider project is Mattia Binotto, who brings years of top-level F1 experience from Ferrari.
Berlin launch set to ignite the Audi era
Audi will officially introduce themselves to the world on January 20, 2026, with a high-profile launch event in Berlin. The team say the immersive event will showcase Audi’s core values of clarity, technical intelligence and emotion — three pillars they believe define their approach to Formula 1.
The full 2026 race livery will be revealed during the launch, before fans are welcomed the following day for a public opening. This follows an early concept design unveiled late last year, featuring bold shades of titanium, carbon black and Audi red.
Honouring Sauber’s legacy
While Audi’s branding will now take centre stage, the team has confirmed that the Sauber name will remain within key areas of the business, including Sauber Holding AG and Sauber Technologies AG — a nod to the legacy built by founder Peter Sauber.
Other parts of the organisation, such as the Technology Centre in Bicester, will be rebranded under the Audi Motorsport banner as the transformation accelerates.
A new chapter for Formula 1
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner described the unveiling of the team name and logo as another major milestone on the road to Formula 1, with Berlin set to mark the moment Audi formally steps onto motorsport’s biggest stage.
With regulations resetting, a major manufacturer entering the sport and fan engagement placed front and centre, Audi’s arrival in 2026 is shaping up to be one of Formula 1’s most anticipated new eras in years.
