Formula 1, FIA and Teams Confirm 2026 Concorde Agreement Signing

Formula 1, the FIA and all 11 teams have officially confirmed the signing of the 2026 Concorde Governance Agreement, completing the final piece of a landmark deal that will define the sport’s structure through to the end of the decade.

This follows the announcement earlier this year that the 2026 Commercial Concorde Agreement had already been agreed by all parties. Together, the governance and commercial agreements form the ninth Concorde Agreement in Formula 1 history.

What the Concorde Agreement Means for F1

The Concorde Agreement is one of the most important documents in Formula 1, setting out the regulatory framework, governance structure and commercial foundations of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

By securing alignment between Formula 1 as the commercial rights holder, the FIA as the governing body, and the 11 teams on the grid, the agreement ensures stability and clarity as the sport prepares to enter a new era in 2026, complete with major changes to power units and car regulations.

Stability as Formula 1 Enters a New Regulatory Era

With sweeping technical regulations coming into force in 2026, the agreement provides a stable platform for innovation, competition and investment. It also enables the FIA to further strengthen race operations, including race direction, stewarding and technical oversight, areas that have come under increased scrutiny in recent seasons.

The deal also reinforces Formula 1’s commitment to long-term growth, allowing the championship to continue expanding its global footprint while maintaining a clear and structured governance model.

Momentum Continues to Build

The announcement comes at a time of record-breaking audience figures, an increasingly diverse and dynamic calendar, and growing engagement from younger fans worldwide. Formula 1 enters the next chapter of its history with unprecedented momentum and confidence.

Leadership Reactions

Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali described the agreement as a defining moment for the sport’s future.

“Today is an important day for Formula 1. As we celebrate 75 years of this incredible sport, we are proud to write the next chapter in our long and amazing history. This agreement ensures that Formula 1 is in the best possible position to continue to grow around the world.”

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem highlighted the agreement’s role in securing long-term stability and innovation.

“The ninth Concorde Agreement secures the FIA Formula One World Championship’s long-term future. This framework is grounded in fairness, stability and shared ambition, ensuring Formula 1 remains at the forefront of technological innovation in global sport.”

A Foundation for the Next Five Years

With the Concorde Agreement now fully signed, Formula 1 can look ahead to the 2026 season and beyond with certainty. The deal provides the structure needed to support innovation, competitiveness and sustainability, ensuring the championship continues to evolve while delivering world-class racing for fans across the globe.
